Farao
Farao is the musical alias of Norwegian producer Kari Jahnsen, whose sound combines smooth 90s R&B with sensual 80s disco, ambient spiritual jazz, and layers of lush zithers to create her own sonic fantasy; think Janet Jackson meets Alice Coltrane. Her 2025 LP, Magical Thinking, showcases her sultry vocal harmonies and vintage synthesizer collection, featuring a collaboration with ambient legend Laraaji.
Farao has collaborated with acclaimed mixing engineer Andrew Scheps (Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Adele) on both of her solo albums, producing compositions that have resonated globally and drawn praise from top publications such as Pitchfork, NPR, The New York Times, The Line of Best Fit, and Clash Magazine.
