marvaða is an art studio, production house and music label based in Reykjavík, founded by the multidisciplinary artist, director and curator Arnbjörg María Danielsen.

At its centre is Arnbjörg's artistic practice. Music is the starting point, but rarely the boundary. Her work moves between sound, performance, bodies, objects, images and space, and the form of each project emerges from the material itself. She works compositionally. A musical structure can become spatial; an object can generate an action; movement can alter how sound is perceived. Meaning emerges through attention, duration and the changing relations between things.

marvaða is shaped by the same way of working. It creates the conditions for artistic processes to develop, in close collaboration with musicians, performers, visual artists, filmmakers and others. These relationships extend across projects and disciplines.

At Grandagarður 5, marvaða runs a space for experimentation, exchange and gathering.

Rooted in Iceland and connected to an international network of collaborators, marvaða is defined less by a discipline than by a way of working: music at the core, forms kept open, each project allowed to become whatever it needs to become.
