viibra release concert

On May 26, 2024, the flute septet viibra celebrated the release of their highly anticipated debut album with a concert at Norðurljós Harpa. The performance marked a significant milestone for the group, with four works from their self-titled album premiering live on stage.

The album reflects viibra’s collective creative force, exploring expanded approaches to flute playing while opening space for collaboration. Formed in 2016 to support Björk’s album Utopia, the ensemble has since become known for its role in her theatrical concert Cornucopia, performed between 2018 and 2023.

The concert was further shaped by the long-standing collaboration with Margrét Bjarnadóttir, who has worked with the septet on stage movement for nearly seven years. Her sensitivity to gesture and space introduced an additional layer to the music, allowing sound and movement to unfold together.

Produced by marvaða, the evening marked not only the release of viibra’s first album, but a moment of continuity — signaling the ongoing evolution of their sound and artistic vision.
